Versión en Ingles

Our history starts at the beginning of 2007 in the town of Florida, Santiago, Chile, when we decided to join the Andean Instruments Workshop at the Centro Cultural La Barraca, under the musical direction of Catalina Pérez Garrido.

While there we felt the need to continue to experience the melodies and sounds of the Andes, on that light in March 2008 we formed Antupillán, name taken from the Mapuche language meaning “Spirit of the Sun.

Our first steps began with the interpretation of songs by groups such as Arak Pacha, Los Kjarkas, Illapu, Markamaru, Victor Jara, Violeta Parra, Inti-Illimani and Los Jaivas among others.

The process has been rewarding for the whole group, as the hard and constant work is providing the expected results. We have played at different locations in the metropolitan area, through out the communities of La Florida, Santiago Centro, Pirque, Quinta Normal, Peñalolén and Puente Alto. Besides participating in activities at the Centro Cultural La Barraca, labor unions, clubs, schools and many events.
